How we make money

Mould & Mend is a business, not a charity or a public body, and this page says how it pays for itself. It will be kept up to date as each source of income is switched on.

What is live now

Nothing. As of 29 September 2026 the site carries no adverts, no affiliate links and no shop. Every guide you read today earns us nothing directly. We say this because the labels below only mean something if you can see when they start to apply.

What we plan, in the order we expect to add it

  1. Adverts. We intend to carry display advertising through an advertising network once the site has enough readers. Adverts will be marked as adverts and will sit in fixed positions, never inside the steps of a guide. Advertising that uses cookies needs your consent under UK law; we will add a consent banner before any such advert appears, and we will not run advertising in a way that bypasses it.
  2. Affiliate links. Some guides may link to products at retailers. Where a link earns us a commission if you buy, it will be labelled at the point you see it, and a notice above the first such link on the page will say that the page contains them. We will only recommend a product we have used ourselves or that the guide’s sources support, and we will say which. Commission never changes whether a product appears or what we say about it.
  3. Our own shop. We plan to sell a small range of products relevant to moisture problems in the home. Products we sell ourselves will be marked as ours. The shop will not go live until it has its own terms, a delivery and returns policy, and the trader details the law requires.

What money does not change

  • Safety advice, and when we tell you to call a landlord, a surveyor, a registered electrician or a Gas Safe engineer.
  • Whether a guide says a product is unnecessary. Most condensation problems are solved by habits and ventilation, and the guides say so before mentioning anything you could buy.
  • The sources. Every guide links to the UK guidance it rests on, so you can check it without trusting us.

We do not accept payment for coverage, sponsored guides or paid placements in the text of a guide. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
